The Mill House, resplendent and elegant in 2004
This Grade II listed Stone Miller's house is a fine example of a period home that has been lovingly maintained and includes the original stone garden walls and a superb garden sloping down to the stream that feeds and comes from the Mill Pond. The house's fine pedigree is reinforced by the blocked window above the front door, a sure sign of a canny seventeenth century occupant avoiding the hated window tax of 1695. Just to the north of the house a small bakery used to supply the village with bread until the mid twentieth century. It is said that after years of service to the village sadly the Baker, Mr Terry, drowned in mysterious circumstances in the Mill Pond.
