Planning at Work: Case Studies
Pumping Station, Nutbourne Common
When the pumping station on Nutbourne Common was released for development, local people were surprised that the intended use of the site was for industrial use, or even a facility for Travellers, rather than for residential development. Many people put pen to paper, prompting strenuous opposition from District Councillors and Pulborough Parish Council, forcing a change of heart. Work is now progressing to convert the pumping station for residential use.

Bourne End
An example of a tasteful new development, fully in keeping with the local area is 'Bourne End', at the southernmost point of the village. The property is now occupied by the Smith family, who take an active part in Nutbourne community affairs.

Garden View
Plans for this new home in the garden of "Wilhaven" were adapted following a consultation to ensure a perfect fit with the surrounding area. Although a little smaller the result is very pleasing to the eye and a welcome addition to the village.
